Draft resolution EPP Summit, Brussels, 25 March 2010, CUBA:
Cuban democratic opposition: Due to the death of Orlando Zapata, we have witnessed a new propaganda campaign against the dissidents, who the Cuban regime describes as antisocial elements, mercenaries or common criminals. Unfortunately, these defamations sometimes find an echo with certain sectors of European citizenry. We wish to testify here to our admiration and respect for those democratic activists who, under exceptionally adverse conditions, work peacefully for the Rule of Law, pluralism and freedom in their country. Their civic courage, patriotism and democratic passion must not lead to ostracism, repudiation, prison or exile. That is why we commit ourselves to continuing to give them our support and solidarity.
